My historic rape by a future powerful man and Prime Ministerial candidate and the subsequent cover up is one of the biggest scandals in Australian political history.

For nearly two decades I have tried to have my voice heard regarding my rape.

I have reported my assault to police and to Members of Parliament. I have spoken to the mainstream media.

Victoria Police (VicPol) put a file together but did not seek out, interview or get statements from witnesses whose names I forwarded to them. I know this because I asked these people afterward.

My police file was handed to the Victorian Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) for review. The OPP incorrectly concluded ‘nothing to see here’, or more legally, ‘no reasonable chance of conviction‘.

The OPP is a Victorian State run office with Labor affiliations. There was no incentive or motivation to lay charges. The investigating officer told me the Director of the OPP looked at the cover of the brief of evidence, saw my accuser’s name, looked no further then decided in under 30 seconds there was no reason to lay charges. I am convinced there was a political motivation, or pressure, to not charge due to personal and professional connection to my attacker.

I was shocked but in hindsight, unsurprised at the failures of the legal system in Victioria.

I have contacted so many members of the media. I am told by reporters and insiders who have confided with me, off the record, of a number of reasons they will not report my side of the story.

I have been told by some there is nothing more to report because Bill Shorten ‘has been cleared of rape’.

He has not.

The OPP does not hear cases, so cannot clear anybody.

The OPP has stated in their very subjective opinion there is “no reasonable chance of conviction”. This could be for any reason, which they have never given. Their decision was not based on the available evidence or unquestioned witnesses, or a trial so my rapist could not possibly be ‘cleared’.

Another reason is Bill Shorten has one of the most aggressive lawyers in the country, who has issued threats to news organisations around the country, that the lawyer will legally apply to suppress by way of injunction any stories and/or sue any news outlet that raises the story of my rape. I know this from reliable inside sources who believe me and are willing to tell my story but have their hands legally tied by Shorten’s threats.

So, I am left to fight on my own.

I have contacted several large law firms in Victoria.

But as soon as I mention my name and my rapist’s name, I am told they cannot act for me due to a ‘conflict of interest’. Bill Shorten has signed ‘retainers’ with a number of law firms, in an effort to checkmate me in Victoria.

This leaves me with only one outlet.

This website and the Australian people.

A year ago, on 4th of April 21, 2021, I launched a GoFundMe page. This campaign raised over $11,000 which gave me hope I could start to fight on my own. I have placed the money into an account called the Kathy Sherriff Fund.

I intended to start the legal proceedings soon after raising the funds, but I have since needed to deal with serious health issues over the past year. I am now near to 100% recovery, so I now have the time and the energy to resume my fight. In the meantime I have been writing my story and preparing the creation of this website, to tell my story.
